UI Designer

Overview

As a UI Designer for Foods Connected, I contributed to an innovative project designed to develop and enhance their end-to-end supply chain software solutions. Our focus was on improving functionality within food safety, compliance, procurement, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). The goal was to streamline operations and deliver superior, informative reporting along with insights tailored for the food industry, thereby simplifying and enhancing user interactions with the platform.

The challenge

The main challenge was to initiate and establish the foundation for Food's Connected new Design System within a tight timeframe of three months. This system was aimed at providing comprehensive guidance and support to both designers and developers. My role involved the strategic development of crucial components that would become the cornerstone of the platform’s redesign.

My role

As the UI Designer on the project, my responsibilities included:

• Designing and implementing a robust design system that would serve as the backbone for the software overhaul.

• Ensuring consistent and intuitive user interfaces that align with modern design practices.

• Facilitating a collaborative environment among cross-functional teams to ensure the design system was adaptable and scalable across different modules of the software.

Key Skills Utilized

• Design System Architecture: Developed a comprehensive set of design principles and standards that guided the creation of unified and cohesive user interfaces.

• Collaborative Design: Engaged in dynamic teamwork with UX researchers and developers to ensure the design system was user-centric and fully integrated with backend technologies.

• Accessibility Enhancement: Focused on creating accessible interfaces to cater to a diverse user base, thereby improving overall user experience.

• Agile Methodologies: Employed agile practices to manage the project efficiently, ensuring timely delivery of design components and adherence to project milestones.

Outcomes

The project successfully replaced key journeys and screens within the Foods Connected platform, integrating new functionality that adhered to the newlyestablished design system. This redesign:

• Enhanced the user-friendliness of the platform, making it more intuitive and easier to navigate.

• Improved accessibility features, making the platform usable for a broader audience.

• Increased efficiency in how users interact with the software, leading to better management of their supply chain activities.

Imapact

This project not only elevated the user experience of the Foods Connected platform but also set a new standard for how design systems can be effectively implemented to drive business success in the supply chain and food safety sectors. My contributions as a UI Designer were pivotal in transforming the platform into a more efficient, accessible, and user-friendly tool, thereby directly impacting customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

By focusing on a user-centered design approach, leveraging industry best practices, and fostering a collaborative project environment, I demonstrated my ability to contribute to high-impact projects and deliver results that align with strategic business objectives.
